It is almost Valentine’s Day and some of you are excited and some of you may be avoiding the holiday at all costs. Whatever your relationship status may be, I have always believed that Valentine’s Day is for everyone. All of the important relationships in your life whether it be with a partner, friends, or family have heavily influenced your life. The people you love and that you have chosen to surround yourself with affect your life in so many ways and it is time to reflect on those and think about the positive impact they have had.

My family has always been extremely close. When something good happens in my life, my mom is my first call and same thing if it is something bad. Who in your life is that for you? A lot of times we go through days, weeks and months without really thinking about how these certain people have given us so much love, kindness and understanding. You may be single during Valentine’s Day but let this be your chance to show and tell your loved ones how grateful you are for them.

I’ve  watched relationships of friends and family grow, I’ve watched them fail, I’ve been broken up with, I’ve broken hearts, I’ve watched people I love get their hearts broken and I’ve lost touch with close friends from my younger years. There are so many different kinds of love and relationships and it is hard when they fade from your life but it is amazing when they grow and prosper. No matter what has happened in your life with people, it is also so important to remember to love yourself.

Take this month to reflect on your emotions and how you treat others. Take time to love yourself and do some self care. Treat yourself and go to a spa, go to a cool hiking spot and really take in the beauty of nature around you. Whatever it is that makes you feel love, make a plan and do it. Even if it is taking a day off of work and resetting your body and mind. It is imperative that our mind, body and soul are growing and connecting all the time

I want you to plan today how you are going to love yourself and others this Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t have to be something big and elaborate but make it meaningful. Even if it is laying in bed with a heart shaped box of chocolates and binge watching Netflix, do it.  Share it with us or keep it personal but remember to slow down and take some time to remember how to love yourself.
