Frequently Asked Questions

Sea moss, also known as Irish moss, is a family of red algae with the scientific name Chondrus crispus. It’s been consumed by humans for thousands of years, found mainly on rocks along the North Atlantic Coast. Today, it’s also planted and processed in several coastal countries, including the U.S., China, Ireland and the Caribbean.
In St. Lucia, sea moss grows rapidly in the warmer open ocean temperature away from pollution.
Sea moss attaches itself to underwater rocks and uses a process called iontophoresis where the sea moss absorbs minerals and key nutrients from the rocks themselves.
Sea moss is an umbrella term for thousands of different species of red algae. There are currently two main species of sea moss that are used; Genus Gracilaria and Chondrus Crispus. These species of sea moss are the most nutrient dense and are therefore used in heath and cosmetic supplements.
Too much of anything is never good. It is recommended to stick to 1-2 tablespoons of sea moss, or 2 capsules, daily for optimal health benefits.

Yes. Iodine is used to make the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, which assists with the creation of proteins and enzyme activity in the body. Iodine also helps regulate metabolism. If you are lacking iodine, your metabolism levels may slow leading the body to store food as fat, rather than burned as energy, leading to weight gain.

Please note: a good balance of iodine is important so always consult your physician first.
